SAVAK used ruthless torture techniques, trained by merciless interrogators who showed no compassion toward political prisoners.
When one of the student activists was arrested by SAVAK, I asked Hossein: "Do you think he can endure the torture?" He immediately replied: "Does he recite the Quran?" I asked: "What do you mean?"
Hossein answered with deep conviction: "If he is truly intimate with the Quran, he can resist; otherwise, it is impossible!"
